Hunter Gardner is a comedy writer and performer for the stage and screen, born and raised in the Carolinas and now residing in New York City. He’s currently pitching two half-hour TV concepts and developing a scripted podcast with LA-based Lucky Broadcasting.

His humor pieces, short stories, and personal essays have been featured on popular websites including McSweeney’s, The Weekly Humorist, Points In Case, Maudlin House, and Rejection Letters. As a live storyteller, he has appeared on PBS WORLD’s Stories From the Stage and the RISK! podcast, as well as performance venues along the east coast.

His work on stage also includes the full-length drama, More Quiet, More Noise with co-playwright Aileen Kyoko, which premiered in LA in October 2024. His solo shows Drinking With Jesus and Hunter Gardner’s Dating Symposium: Live! both toured the east coast with festival appearances including The Providence Fringe Festival, PIT Storytelling Festival, and The North Charleston Arts Festival. The Greenville Journal (Greenville, SC), called Dating Symposium one of the Top 5 Arts & Culture Performances of 2019.

He has also twice pitched and produced two comedy shows for the Internet, The 6 Minute Sketch show for NYC-based Hatched Media and the reality web series Shepic Fail with Bravo star Shep Rose.

He believes that comedy is a service and“silly” is a compliment.

Also, he’s nice, but realizes that is not necessarily a likable quality.

Festival credits include: Reedy Reels Film Festival (2021), NY New Filmmakers (2021), NY Short Film Festival (2020), Savannah Comedy Festival (2020), PIT Storyfest (2018), The Providence Fringe Festival (2017), The Del Close Marathon (2017), The North Charleston Arts Festival (2017), The Charleston Comedy Festival (2017), The Charleston Arts Festival (2016), New South Comedy Festival (2015), and The North Carolina Comedy & Arts Festival (2014)
