Hunter is a product of the New York City comedy scene, training with UCB and The Brooklyn Comedy Collective. He first got his start in Charleston, SC where he was a company member at Theatre 99 and created his first solo show Drinking With Jesus which toured in 2016-17, including The Providence Fringe Festival. He also co-created and co-starred in a reality web series Shepic Fail with Shep Rose of Bravo’s Southern Charm

Upon moving to New York, Hunter developed his sophomore solo show Hunter Gardner’s Dating Symposium Live! which was ranked in the Top 5 Arts & Culture Performance of 2019 by The Greenville Journal (Greenville, SC).

His short film, an ‘anti-romcom’, It Doesn’t All Work Out In the End premiered at NY Short Film Festival in November 2020 and he was nominated for Best Actor at Reedy Reels Film Festival. His half-hour pilot THRIVING about two ex-hookups who become roommates advanced to the Second Round of Austin Film Festival in 2021 and is currently in the Top 25% on Coverfly. His one-hour comedy/action pilot KINGPIN was featured on Coverfly’s Red List in April 2023 and is also available as a half-hour narrative podcast.

He’s been featured on PBS WORLD Channel’s Stories From The Stage, the RISK! podcast, and was the showrunner for Hatched Media’s The 6 Minute Sketch Show from 2021-22.
